Congratulations to our BM graduates! :)
Time flies... It feels as if I had only taken my BM test a few weeks ago... :p
Anyhoodles, congratulations and thank you to all who have gone through the 2 semesters of courses with us! We hope that you will be able to take away the skills and knowledge learnt throughout the 2 semesters and continue your seeking spirit and passion for lifesaving. :) Not forgetting, the friendships and bonds forged among your fellow comrades. :)
Many opportunities await you after passing your BM. Yupp, it doesn't end here! :)
You will be able to...
>> join our Bronze Cross course (open water rescue - usually held by ULC once a year),
>> serve as a lifeguard in our local community and in Commonwealth countries (lifeguard positions for sporting events are usually posted on our blog),
>> contribute by being elected to be in the 29th ULC Management Committee next semester, and
>> train competitively in lifesaving to represent NUS in local and overseas competitions. :)
>> etc...
To those who did not pass the test last night, please do not give up, and continue to train hard! :)
To the LS123 batch :) The BM course will commence in the new semester (Aug/Sep), so do keep yourself posted on our blog/official website for more details! :)
On a side note, it is worth taking that few minutes once in awhile to remind ourselves of what the ULC mission is/are...
ULC Mission = OUR mission
1. To promote the knowledge of Lifesaving and Resuscitation skills in undergraduates and staff of NUS.
2. To foster goodwill and friendship among undergraduates of different faculties through a common activity - Lifesaving ‘Unity through Diversity’.
3. To dispel the misconception that a lifeguard must be a Male and an excellent swimmer.
4. To instill the spirit of dynamism, resilience and ruggedness in our members who strive to excel in the academic, sporting and social arenas of their lives.
5. To encourage the 5 Cs: Commitment, Courage, Confidence, Care & Concern, and Contribution.
Cheers :) & all the best for the upcoming examinations! :)
