Calling out for help for our monthly Sentosa Beach Demo..! Those who have duties yet to cover please sign up via the link below . You will be presented with your bronze cross or bronze medallion cert after you complete your duties..!

At every session, there shall be 3 on duty and 1 reserve. Out of the 3 on duty, at least 1 shall be from bronze cross so that at least one will know exactly how to conduct the rescue if sentosa required our help as rescuer.

Just imagine if you were to stand next to a world champion....

This happen to CKM during the World Lifesaving championships in Alexandria, Egypt

He was spotted standing at the start line next to world champ Shannon in the same heat for ski...

and SW standing next with another world champ Naomi Flood ( the one who pour all 'countries sea water' into the Japan Sea during DHL Challenge 2004 with MT)

Alexandria beach is so beautiful with shallow beach sand and pretty spilling wave sweeping in for the whole day.....

WFJ does not has a world champ next to him but he got his trade mark ski which he adores...red and yellow...

NUS Sports Award 2010 at University Cultural Centre

Yesterday nite, was a wonderful moment for us.....

Our guys went up on stage for their Merit Award...

So are our girls in their best dresses and make up...

but they miss the teamNUS video clip which showcase our 'action' at Sentosa as they were ushered into the 'tunnel' waiting to receive their Merit Awards on stage..

The pic was a late inclusion as my colleague spotted us at Sentosa when we were having our competition for the nationals, his thinking was that it will be good to have some action pics of Lifesaving for the NUS Sports Award... so 2 copies were given to him - day1 and 2 for open water competition. --He has praised that the pictures were very well taken.

Amazingly, he chose the same pic that was posted by PY...

which mean it was indeed truly a memorable and historical moment for our NUS Lifesaving..

Well done teamNUS!!!

NUS Sports Awards 2010

Dear All,

Sorry for this late ........... still BB after the super long journey away from home.

CONGRATULATIONS to our teamNUS Lifesaving for been awarded the Merit Awards for both Men and Women teams....and also the indivdiual awards...rookie, team players and long service -Honorary awards.

The award ceremony is today at UCC.

House door open at 4pm for all guests, awards recipients must be registered by 3pm.

The awards is a recognition of our efforts in lifesaving for the year 09/10.

Be grateful, our efforts have always been appreciated and recognised by our senior management as compare to other institutions.....that why you all can go overseas...

With these awards, we will be a better team that will perform much better for the next year award.

NUS Beach Introduction

Yesterday, ULC conducted their Beach Introduction 2010 at Sentosa Palawan Beach.

The event was held in order for the members of ULC to pass on lifesaving skills in the open water the soon-to-be lifeguards from the Lifesaving 1, 2, 3 and Bronze Medallion courses. At the same time, it was also a crash course where the competitive aspect of open water lifesaving was also introduced.

ULC was also happy to have the lifeguards from the Singapore Institute of Management join us during this beach introduction and hope that they have similarly gained invaluable experience from this.

The day began with Mr Sim teaching the basics of open water, such as what the various hand and flag signals mean, how to use the boards, rescue tubes, perry line, etc. Mr Sim also taught those present about the rules of different events.

After which, everyone was split into 5 different groups which were led by those who were already experienced with beach and we carried on through a circuit. These included beach flags, beach sprints, boarding, skiing, and rescue tube rescue.

Trying out beach flags, under the guidance of Khoonnie, Cheryl and Fujie.

Learning how to butt-kick for beach sprints.

After trying out the different events, everyone gathered for a demonstration on surfboard rescue, a non-competitive event, but an invaluable skill to know.

Wei Sin included, to show how to perform a rescue with an assistant.

Overall, we hope everyone had fun and learn lots during this year's Beach Introduction and we thank SIM for having been part of it. Hope to see everyone next year!
